Crestron Wants You to Play Tag
Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at 9:37 AM Crestron implements Microsoft Tag at CEDIA 2010 Booth
How many times have you come to a trade show booth and found it difficult to hear the presentation or wanted further information on the product but didn’t want to add any more brochures or product sheets to your already overflowing and heavy bag?
We understand - we’ve been there too. So, this year we opted to use Microsoft Tag technology in order to help you gather information around our booth. And, to make things a little more fun, we thought we’d give out prizes to those of you who can put together the “Phrase that Pays.”
First – we know you’re thinking: What is Microsoft Tag?
You can think of Tags as the barcode reinvented. With the Tag Reader application for your smartphone, you can instantly connect to Web links, videos and more. Since the technology uses your phone’s camera and web browser the links are also stored for later review.
Okay – now what is Crestron using the Tag technology for?
Product info
Around the booth you will find Tags next to certain products, simply point and shoot using the Tag Reader application to access product info, demos and video presentations which will be updated continuously to ensure you’ll always have the most up-to-date information.
CEDIA Choice Awards
Every Crestron employee will be wearing a sticker with a Tag which when scanned will take you to the CEDIA Attendees Choice Awards voting site so you can easily place your vote (for PROCISE that is).
Hidden messages – “The Phrase that Pays”
We’re a little tricky. Not all the tags next to the products provide you with the product information – we’ve scattered some clues throughout our booth too. If you can find all the clues and combine them into the correct sentence, the “Phrase that Pays,” you could win a prize. All you need to do is send your completed “Phrase that Pays” to CrestronHQ@Crestron.com along with your name and contact information, so we can send you your prize after the show. And no, the phrase will not be anything you expect.
Most Importantly – How do you get the Microsoft Tag Reader app?
It’s easy – just follow the directions below to get started. Having any trouble? Let someone at the booth know and they’ll be sure to walk you through it.
First Download the Microsoft Tag App to your smart-phone by going to: http://gettag.mobi.
Once you have the App downloaded it’s easy!
- Find the Tag app on your Smartphone (in BlackBerry’s it’s in the downloads folder)
- Selecting the app will bring up your camera via the application
- Center the physical tag in the frame
- Shoot the picture
- The tag reader will automatically read the tag take you to the correct destination.
Go ahead and try it here – (yes it works on computer screens as well!):
